People I Hate

Sure, it's my anniversary, but it's also Thursday; and you know what that means. It's time for another Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy Edition of People I Hate! And there's always room for PIH. Let's rock!

The United States of America

Not the country, or even the people, per se; I'm talking about the states. If these morons get their way, we'll be electing the Presidential candidates a year or so before the general election!
CONCORD, N.H. - South Carolina Republicans on Thursday moved their 2008 presidential primary to Jan. 19, triggering a chain reaction among Iowa, New Hampshire and other early voting states that could push the first balloting into December 2007. (H/T - Yahoo!)
This is the worst kind of political infighting, and because of it, the rest of the country will have to follow suit. Before long, every primary will be scheduled in the year preceding the general election, because some rubes want to be more important than some other rubes. It's despicable. Look, there's a reason that Iowa and New Hampshire vote so early, and it has nothing to do with politics. These hicks are thrown a bone once every four years so they will think their state doesn't suck so badly. Let them have their moment.

Nancy Grace

It's fun to see the uber-bitch squirm a little, isn't it?
OCALA, Fla. - Lawyers for CNN and Nancy Grace have asked a judge to dismiss a lawsuit that accuses the TV host of pushing the mother of a missing toddler to suicide through aggressive questioning.

"The law does not permit people to recover money from reporters who ask routine questions while covering ongoing stories of national significance to the public," lawyer Judith Mercier wrote. (H/T - Yahoo!)
Will someone please strike that lawyer with the rules of criminal procedure? First of all, after seeing the clips of the interview, there was nothing "routine" about Grace's questioning. She was badgering the mother incessantly. Secondly, there should be a provision of monetary relief when a reporter's hounding goes over the top!

As a detective, I have to deal with the media on an almost daily basis. For the most part, they're scum who would step over their own mothers to get a scoop. If Grace loses this lawsuit - and I hope she does - maybe it will give the rest of them a wake up call. And that's a good thing for America.

Daily Kos Co-Author Jerome Armstrong

It's funny when it happens to them:
Prominent liberal blogger Jerome Armstrong has agreed to pay nearly $30,000 in fines in a settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission over allegations that Armstrong touted the stock of a software company, without disclosing that he was being paid to do so, the New York Times reports. (H/T - Drudge)
Oh, that's a shame. I'm sure his cohorts over at Daily Kos will claim that it is all George Bush's fault. Heh.
