I Left My Gun In San Francisco

One of these "weapons" has been outlawed in San Fran

The voting populace in San Francisco has finally gone off Fisherman's Wharf. On Tuesday, the city passed a referendum banning all handguns.

Seriously.

The decision makes it illegal to manufacture and/or possess a handgun in either a residence or a business. Also, all handguns previously purchased legally must be turned over to the authorities. That's a shame. Ya know, someone should consider a Constitutional amendment that gives citizens the right to bear arms. Now that would be a novel idea.

The brain surgeons that drafted this legislation obviously didn't consider the fact that the thugs who are committing crimes in the Rice-A-Roni area neither acquired their handguns legally, nor will they be inclined to surrender their arms.

  3. This post may be a bit off topic, but i thought it was quite strange that this law could pass as hordes of scumbags are destroying entire citys population of cars in France and undoubtly increasing liability insurance monumentaly. Add it up with me 1 - Mass of youths destroying cars + 2 - country under seige for atleast 2 weeks + 3 - mob forms in my city = Web on the roof of his car with his Remington 870 shotgun, a box of ammunition, and bag of popcorn. My ability to defend my livelyhood and property is paramount (and theoretically constitutionaly protected). The Loisville Slugger is a formitable weapon, but it does not quite comand the same respect given to a 3" magnum action, and when pitted against a mob of angry (@ what exactly?) youths will probably prove ineffective. But i have bigger things to worry about, my county just passed a public smoking ban. What is this constitution coming to?

  4. OBVIOUSLY we(as adults) are not smart enough to decide things for ourselves so they pass laws that make those decisions for us.Personally I LIKE the idea that there are 4 guns in my house and soon to be 5. I digress... Back to my point, Yet they will pass a law that says 13 year old girls are capable of deciding for themselves to make there little indescretion disappear...NOW MY blood's boiling!!! Sorry for going on Wyatt. :) I just wonder what my kids will have to deal with...

  5. This is why we don't live in CA even though some family members do:) I'm still trying to figure out why nobody took this issue to the Supremes when it happened in NY. Anybody know?

  6. I guess people in SF like being robbed, raped, beaten up, and generally intimidated by thugs. It is, after all, San Francisco.

  8. CUG - Do you think Diana Ross is available?

Yosh . . . , er, Pandy - I'm thinking we can get some of my regulars together and rule the town with an iron fist!

Web - All good points, but you are talking to someone with common sense, which is SERIOUSLY lacking on the West Coast. It appears that S.F. is fiddling while Rome burns. Sooner or later, this decision will bite them in the ass.

JC - It's all a product of bigger, and more intrusive government. Libertarianism never looked so good. The worst part, is that folks other than Dems MUST have voted for this. What the hell is going on there?

SK - I don't know, but it's a good question. My guess is that gun owners aren't turning their weapons in, and thus don't want to make any waves. I wouldn't turn mine in, and I'm a police officer!

Gunn - They don't think that far ahead. "Dirty" Harry Callahan is turning over in his grave.

Lin - I put in "Full Metal Jacket" in a Yahoo! image search. I love that pic!
