Spanked

Well, that wasn't too much fun. The U.S. opened their 2006 World Cup journey with a whimper, after getting crushed by the Czech Republic, 3-0. The Yanks looked flat, which was a sharp contract to the Czechs, who looked every bit the powerhouse that was expected.

The road doesn't get any easier for the U.S., as they are scheduled to face Italy on Saturday.

  2. The US team sucks ass this year. 3-0 nothing, c'mon - I know the Czechs are good this year but 3-0. Even Japan scored a goal today.

  3. My school had the World Cup on in the theater so that kids could watch during their study halls...aren't you jealous...theater sized screen. I even put it on my classroom the last five minutes of each class...don't tell anyone. :)

  4. If they lose the next game will ABC (please) quit covering the event?

I often wondered about soccer hooligans, so I decided to watch the game a few times to see what got them so riled up. After falling asleep 4 times during 1 game I figured it out, BOREDOM.

Sorry, it's just not my game.

  5. TM - Agreed. The entire team showed a chronic lack of heart.

Randal - If they don't win against Italy on Saturday, it's over.

RT - It's better than geometry.

CP - In fairness, ABC's announcers are terrible. If I knew more Spanish, I'd watch Telemundo more often. At least they show some excitement.

  6. It was embarrasing watching that game. Well maybe they'll redeem themselves in the next two games.
