I hate to waste separate posts on each of these stories, but they do deserve some mentions: * It looks like there's a new sheriff in town . . . and she's way hot! Morgan Pressel won yesterday's Kraft Nabisco Championship, becoming the youngest major champion in LPGA history. (Don't worry, guys, she's 18: I checked.) Pressel finished -3 and played the final 24 holes without a bogey. I could have used her in Peak's fantasy league this weekend. * Miss Philadelphia 2007 was crowned yesterday at Drexel University. And the winner was Kimberly Rogers, of Richboro, PA. RICHBORO, PA! For those of you not familiar with the Philadelphia region, Richboro is a northern suburb of Philly. This year's Miss Philadelphia is not even from Philadelphia. She was born and raised in Richboro. The only ties she has to the city is that her mother was born here. Are you frakkin' kidding me? This is a city of about two million people. Couldn't the pageant committee find someone pretty and talented within the city limits? It couldn't have been too difficult, since Miss Rogers is not exactly breathtaking. I guess the pageant thought that since all of my town's residents are getting murdered - the current count is 104 - they would expand their search. Weak. * Our hockey (regular) season ended last night with a disappointing 6-5 overtime loss. We played like a bunch of lazy asses, which does not bode well for the upcoming playoffs. If we are in them, that is. Our league has not yet announced who will be making the playoffs, nor have they told us when the playoffs will start. We believe we're in, since our overall record is 15-7-2, but until we hear an official word, we're stuck in hockey limbo. The only thing for certain is that the first round of the playoffs is a single game, so it's a must win to get to the finals. No pressure. * Finally, I want to thank everyone for the great participation in this weekend's caption contest.
