No Roger, No Rerun, No Rent!

Don't look now, but The Man assassinated another squeaky clean, hard-working gentleman who volunteered in soup kitchens and mentored local utes. And believe it or not, Philly's unbiased newspapers are actually second-guessing the officers involved!

RUTH HENRY CALLED police for help subduing her out-of-control son yesterday morning. Three hours later, he was dead - shot multiple times by cops.

Cue evil, "bad man" music.

Did 23-year-old Jason Henry lunge at police with a 14-inch butcher knife, giving an officer no choice but to shoot, as the police claim? Or was Henry simply trying to regain his composure after being stunned by a Taser gun, as witnesses claim?

The only thing cops and witnesses agree on is that Henry began throwing sharp objects - including a knife and a drill - out of a window at officers when they arrived at his home on 19th Street near 69th Avenue.

See? Henry was killed for merely trying to recycle his old tools! Get me Johnny Cochran!

"There was no gun found, so there was no need for deadly force," said NAACP lawyer Angelo L. Cameron, who was contacted by the Henry family.

Really? Wow, where did the NAALCP find this clown? Maybe Mr. Cameron missed the part where Henry threw a drill and a knife out the window at the officers. Maybe Mr. Cameron missed the part where Henry charged at the officers with a 14-inch butcher knife. Maybe Mr. Cameron missed the part of self-defense in law school.

Henry's aunt, Joanne Watkins, said her nephew never had any problems and went to work every day, although she would not specify his place of employment - and court records show he had had many run-ins with the law.

Of course. Like every person shot by the po-po, this man was a pillar of the community. But wait . . .

According to court records, Henry pleaded guilty to robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery in Montgomery County in 2004 and was sentenced to 11 to 23 months in county prison. In January, he was arrested for firearms offenses. Court records show a bench warrant was issued for his arrest on the day of his preliminary hearing in March. (The Philadelphia Daily News)

If there are any civilians living in the Philadelphia that still don't get it, I'll try and make it crystal clear: this is what the PPD has to deal with every single day. Henry threw weapons at the responding officers before charging at them with a 14-inch butcher knife. And what are we to do? We should stop the threat by asking him about his childhood, or saying "Pretty please with sugar on top."

A recent post at Blonde Sagacity was entitled, "Whenever an American Soldier Loses His Life a Liberal Gets Their Wings." The same could hold true with the media's opinion of the Philadelphia Police Department. The local media would never admit it, but (for them) a much better result of this tragedy would be the death of the officer, and the "rehabilitation" of the knife-wielding thug.

Thankfully, the Philly media didn't get their wish on Sunday.
