Student Opens Fire Inside Ohio School

Really, isn't it about time we had the discussion of arming school teachers? Or at least have armed security in our schools? If we did, maybe events like these would stop occurring every other month.
CLEVELAND - A 14-year-old suspended student opened fire in his downtown high school Wednesday, wounding four people as terrified schoolmates hid in closets and bathrooms and huddled under laboratory desks. He then killed himself.

A fellow student at SuccessTech Academy alternative school said Asa H. Coon, who was suspended for fighting two days earlier, had made threats in front of students and teachers last week.

"He's crazy. He threatened to blow up our school. He threatened to stab everybody," Doneisha LeVert said. "We didn't think nothing of it."

Armed with two revolvers, Coon fired eight shots and may have targeted teachers, said Police Chief Michael McGrath. Police found a duffel bag stocked with ammunition and three knives in a bathroom but found no suicide note, he said. (H/T - Yahoo!)
I realize that no one wants to think that it could happen in their child's school, but the fact of the matter is that it can. And I also realize that people don't want to think about anyone - teachers, security, children - carrying firearms in a school. But guess what, kids? This isn't 1950 anymore. Students are going to get their hands on firearms or other weapons if they're diligent.

And we have to prepare for that scenario. The sooner, the better.
