Mayor-Elect Nutter Names New Police Commissioner

Nutter hasn't even been sworn in as mayor yet, and I fear he's lost me:

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― Mayor-Elect Michael Nutter announced Thursday, Charles H. Ramsey, former police chief in D.C., has been hired as the new Police Commissioner of Philadelphia.

Ramsey, a 57-year-old native of Chicago, started his career in his hometown and spent 29-years with the Chicago P.D. before taking a job in D.C. where he served as the chief of the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia from 1998 to 2006. While leading the Metropolitan P.D., Ramsey handled such high profile cases as the Chandra Levy investigation, the September 11 attacks and the D.C. sniper shootings.

Nutter introduced Ramsey during a noon news conference at a West Philadelphia YMCA. (H/T - CBS3)

Ramsey handled the Chandra Levy case? Wow, how'd that work out for ya, Charles? Not too good. This was a huge opportunity for Nutter to make his mark, and I think he blew it. Almost anyone would have been a better choice than Sylvester Johnson . . . except this guy.

Randal Graves sent me this story, and made a remark that I thought was pretty telling:
Hahahahahaha....D.C, that's funny. They have such a good track record for crime rates!
He's right. Washington D.C. has always been a hotbed for homicides. I fear Philadelphia is in for more of the same.

Sebastian is not impressed, either.
