Suspect In Custody In Philadelphia Police Shootings

Good job to all involved!

PHILADELPHIA (CBS3/AP) ― A suspect is in police custody in connection to the shooting of two Philadelphia undercover narcotic officers in Frankford Tuesday evening.

According to police, the officers, along with uniformed officers, were serving a warrant on the 2000 block of East Orthodox Street at about 6:30 p.m.

Police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson said police knocked and rang the door bell several times before several gunshots were fired from a window inside the home, striking the two plainclothes officers.

One officer was taken to Frankford Hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the hip and released. The second officer was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his left leg and released. (H/T - CBS3)

I just have a few questions to someone in charge:

• When will the Philadelphia Police Department be able to do what is necessary to stop these shootings? A message needs to be sent, but we can't do that if we're sitting on our hands.
• Who will be brave enough to challenge the Supreme Court's ruling on warrants? The Court's "Knock and Announce" ruling in reference to search and arrest warrants is putting officer's lives at risk. These officers followed the rules to the letter, and got shot for their trouble. The rule should read, one knock, one announcement, then the door gets kicked in. End of story.
• When will the administration stand up for the good officers who are just trying to do a very difficult job? Too many officers hesitate to take necessary action because they are scared to death of being sued. They know the city won't stand behind them, so they hesitate. And make no mistake; sometimes "necessary action" involves using deadly force.
• And finally, when will the lawyers, the administration, the media, and Internal Affairs shut the hell up and let us do our job?
