Your Jackass Of The Week

Talk about your overzealous cops. This tool gives all of us a bad name . . .
SCRANTON, Pa. -- A West Scranton woman is set to go on trial for a profane tirade she let fly when a toilet backed up in her home. Dawn Herb, a 31-year-old mother of four, pleaded not guilty to a disorderly conduct charge that can carry up to a 90-day jail sentence.

Herb said she does not remember exactly what she said Oct. 11, but she admitted to letting more than a few choice words fly near an open bathroom window.

Police said Herb's next-door neighbor, city police Patrolman Gerald Tallo, was off-duty at the time, but asked her to keep it down. When she continued, Tallo called police. (H/T - NBC10)
I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that Patrolman Tallo has less than five years on the job. Only an inexperienced nitwit would call 911 for something so ridiculous. It reminds me of the countless times rookie Philly officers bring up "great pinches."

"But Detective, he was loitering! That's against the law!"

Then, when you remind said officer that he is working in a city that has eclipsed the 370 mark in homicides, and maybe he should prioritize a little, he throws a hissy fit.

In Philly, we have a saying, "When you're off-duty, stay off-duty." If we see something go down, we are expected to monitor the situation and dial 911 - unless, of course, if we're witnessing a felony. From what I am reading about this case, this was neither a felony, nor a cause to dial 911. In this situation, Patrolman Tallo should have used his most important investigative tool: common sense.

Cripes, I can imagine what Patrolman Tallo would do in Philly during the closing minutes of an Eagles game!
