Philadelphia Democrats

. . . are easily the most corrupt politicians in America. Get a load of this story and see if it doesn't make you want to retch.

A caucus of Democratic ward leaders yesterday endorsed state Sen. Vince Fumo for re-election, but with enough abstentions and absentees to suggest that his grip on the party organization may be slipping.

Meeting behind closed doors at Democratic Party headquarters, on Walnut Street, 15 ward leaders with pieces of Fumo's Senate district heard 10-minute spiels from Fumo and one of his rivals, electricians union leader John Dougherty.

Afterward, they voted 12-0 to endorse Fumo's bid for another four-year term, in spite of a 141-count federal corruption indictment for which Fumo faces trial in September.

Disgusted yet? Hell, even some fellow Democrat pols think this is a despicable move on the part of the Party.

Anne Dicker, the anti-casino activist who's running against Fumo and Dougherty, said she had not been invited and hadn't learned of the meeting until it was over. (H/T - The Philadelphia Daily News)

Normally, this is where I would write, "Remember this when you go to the polls, Philly!" but the majority of the voting populace here are ill-informed morons who vote a straight party ticket anyway.

There has not been a Republican mayor in this town since the 50's. The reason is because they grew too corrupt, and the public sent them a message with their ouster. Now, the same thing is happening with local Dems, but no one seems to mind. Frankly, we deserve what we get.
