The "Real" Hawks Prevail

The Saint Joseph's Hawks - my beloved alma mater - beat the Kansas Jayhawks on the national stage tonight in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden. The game, televised by ESPN, featured the staples of the SJU game plan: strong defense, quick transition play, and a hell of a lot of three-pointers. Dwayne Lee (pictured) and Chet Stachitas took Kansas to task, helping the Hawks to a 70-67 win.

Now that's a nice anniversary present!

The Hawk Will Never Die!

  1. I love the Hawks!!! They have the most honorable coaches. Coach Martelli is a class act. Cheney could learn a lot from him. Cheney is such an overrated cry-baby. Oh...don't get me started! I see another one of Mayor McCheese's cronies is facing charges. McDufus must sweep for bugs every day now. Have a good day at detective school...whatever you call. Have fun storming the castle!

  2. RT - The bst four years of my life. Of course, their Basketball team got great AFTER I graduated in '91, but I went ot the games anyway. Martelli is terrific!

Saw the story about Ross. Looks like every one of Street's "advisors" is getting indicted. Tee hee hee!

Going to bed now, since I have to be up by 0530 and in training by 0800. This day work stuff is for the dogs.

  3. Wyatt, those Hawks are pretty good to beat the J-hawks. That team is pretty tough!

  4. DUDE!!! That's sleeping "in" for me. I wish I could get to work that late. Sorry...I get about four a night and work twelve hour days. YAWN. Is it June yet? Will I have a snow day Friday?

  5. Martelli has it down... he's just goofy enough to lull people into thinking he's a buffoon, but there aren't many coaches better at adjusting to the talent he's got.
They're getting closer to ol' Wrong-Way every day, huh?

  6. RT - You may. They're calling for 3-6 inches (NO COMMENTS, PANDY!), so I'll have to get up by 5 for training now. Hooray.

Bob - Correct. He doesn't look all that bright, and that's his strength, since he is a basketball genius. He's also a very down-to-earth guy, which helps.
