Say A Little Prayer

Kyle, on the snow scooter we haven't used yet.

As I wrote in PIH, tomorrow will be a very busy, stressful day around these parts. My five-year old son Kyle is scheduled for surgery at Holy Redeemer Hospital. One of his testicles has not completely fallen, and the doctors need to go in and fix the problem. It is supposed to be a simple, quick procedure, but that doesn’t reassure me. Suffice to say, I am already a wreck, and I don’t see it getting any better by the morning. Please say a little prayer for Kyle, and I’ll keep everyone updated on his condition. Thanks.

  1. Wyatt, If you ever find a parent who is not a wreck under similar circumstances, then you have found someone who shouldn't have kids.

    Sending good thoughts,
    rachel

  4. rachel nailed it...

One of my boys went in for 'Simple' hernia surgery and it took all the hospital security to keep me out of the operating room to hold his little hand.

My best to you and your family Wyatt!

  7. Wyatt,

I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

My oldest son had the same operation done down at CHOP for both testicles. I was a mess, but he was a trooper. He's older now and I've overheard him making jokes to his friends and saying, "they were up there playing pinball with my belly button!"

And the nervousness you're feeling: I know it all too well, as my youngest son is having surgery today at 2:30 at Crozer-Chester Hospital for a scaphoid fracture (wrist), which, like the undecended testicles, is another very common operation w/ kids.

They'll be taking bone from my son's hip and grafting it into wrist where the bone has deteriorated.

Take a deep breath, Wyatt. He'll be ok.

Again, my prayers are with you all.

  8. I'll not only say a prayer, but I'll say it over hubby's Joan of Arc medallion that went through Iraq with him.

And just for the record, your son is adorable. I have a five year old blond daughter he should meet...

  13. Thank you all so much for the thoughts. Everything went smoothly, and he was a trooper. Now, I am going to pass out on the bed. Got daywork in the morning. Damn.
