Harrigan's -5, Storm - 4.
What started out to be a miserable day - my lacrosse team lost and will not make the playoffs - turned into a day to remember as our hockey team won tonight by a score of 5-4. The victory gave us a two-game sweep of the Storm, and we advanced to the finals, which will begin Monday night.
We came out with a vengeance tonight, scoring three quick goals, and out-hustling the Storm to every loose puck. The first period ended with us on top, 3-1.
And then, the roof caved in. We started lolly-gagging - yes, lolly-gagging - around the ice, and watched our opponents score a quick goal in the second. We answered with another of our own, and ended the second period winning 4-2. The third period saw us move a little more quickly, but the Storm got to within one goal with less than four minutes left.
After Vinnie, Fish, and Badger deftly killed a power play, the Storm pulled their goaltender with 1:30 remaining. Randal helped keep the puck out of the zone, while Boris made some critical saves in the final seconds to clinch the victory.
Me? I sucked.
We still do not know who we will be facing for the championship series, as the other semifinal is tied at one game apiece. Good, let 'em fight it out. We need the rest.
