LOS ANGELES, June 2 (UPI) -- The Sci-Fi Channel's Peabody Award-winning and critically acclaimed series "Battlestar Galactica" is coming to a close.I wish I knew what to say, but words escape me. It is a dark day for television, because its arguably best series is saying goodbye. On the other hand, it will go out while it is on top - fresh and cutting edge. I have tried to explain the series to people who are not really into sci-fi, and it's difficult at best; impossible at worst. It is so much more than science fiction. It is so much better than the original campy 70's series. It is much better written than 99 percent of the series' out there.
Although the show's ending was not officially announced until Friday, "Battlestar Galactica's" executive producers, Ron Moore and David Eick, said they began feeling several months ago the show was nearing its end, Zap2it.com reported.
"This is a decision that took some time to arrive at, and like all decisions this large, there were a number of questions we had internally and a creative agenda we wanted to serve. I think we all had to collectively decide when we wanted to be definitive about it. That time is now," Eick says.
Although Sci-Fi reportedly was not exactly thrilled with the idea of giving up the show, Moore said once he and Eick made their case, the network didn't stand in their way. (H/T - UPI)
In my opinion, BSG is better than 24, is much better than The Shield, and blows away Prison Break. I urge you to rent a season or two from NetFlix, because my lame description is not doing the show justice. Simply stated, everyone I told about the series (Deathlok, Randal, Rachel) has loved it. Please don't let it leave the air without giving it a chance. Thank you.
