Happy Independence Day!

Somewhere in between waking up at noon and eating hot dogs for dinner, please take a moment out of your day off - I'm working, by the way - to remember what a monumental day this was for our fledgling country. John Adams was aware of the day's significance, and wrote this to his wife on July 3rd . . .
The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more. (H/T - Wikipedia)
Adams was talking about the vote here, as the adoption of The Declaration of Independence came on July 4th. Note the reference to God Almighty, as it probably sends the liberals into a froth. Sorry kids, but America was founded upon Judeo-Christian ideals, whether you like it or not.

Have a terrific holiday!
