Can Someone Just Take Our Teams Away?

Maybe then some of these idiot Philly fans will go with them. Now, tell me again how Philadelphia fans are "the best in the country?"
Phillies fans everywhere in the region, keeping late vigil, could relate to her sense of priority. And to her disappointment. Iguchi popped out, and the end seemed to come quickly after that, with the Rockies pecking out three two-out singles in a row in the bottom of the eighth to go up 2-1 - for good.

"I'm not surprised," Andrea West, 26, said. "It's the Phillies, man. They set you up for disappointment - like all Philadelphia teams."

Kuzniar, her friend since high school, could not even speak at first. He just stared into his mug of beer.

"This is being a Philadelphia fan: having a good team build you up and then let you down," he said. "I'm a seasoned veteran at having my heart ripped out." (H/T - The Philadelphia Inquirer)
Quotes like these are exactly why the only Philadelphia team I cheer for is the Flyers. And even then, I am still a Ranger fan at heart. You see, this sort of nonsense happens every time a local team makes the playoffs. You have a bunch of die-hard fans - like Wagonsux and The Godfather - who've followed the team all season, then you get the majority - idiots who jump on a bandwagon for an excuse to get stupid drunk and tell everyone that their team will definitely win the championship.

Such was the case with the Phillies. Sure, they were a good team, and they had an extraordinary season, but they weren't going to win the World Series unless something miraculous happened.

But don't tell that to the wagon jumpers. The Phillies were the best team ever and were going to win the World Series in four! Morons. I knew it was out of control when the local newscasters were dressing up in Phillies jerseys. Please, just stop it!

And what happened? The Phillies took it on the chin, losing to a red hot Rockies team. It was disappointing, but not too surprising. Almost immediately after the final out, these same Phillies "fans," were calling for the heads of every player, coach, and member of the management. People were saying "The Phillies suck!," as if the entire season now counted for nothing. And the jumpers, moseyed on over to the Eagles, starting the ironic circle once again.

Screw that. Let's go Broncos!
