"Broad Street Bandit" Arrested

Finally. A break . . .

(CBS 3) PHILADELPHIA A suspect authorities believe may be responsible for a string of armed robberies along Broad Street is now in police custody.

Officials arrested the thief while he was robbing a Subway restaurant at Broad and Westmoreland streets Saturday morning.
Businesses along the Broad Street corridor in North Philadelphia were the target of multiple knife-point robberies throughout the past few weeks. The latest in the string of robberies occurred Saturday at about 8:15 a.m. at the Subway Restaurant.

A security guard from a neighboring store recognized the suspect from surveillance video and made his move. The suspect attempted to stab Griffin with the knife but only cut through his shirt.

Police were waiting outside the store and quickly arrested the suspect.

Almost every one of these knife-point robberies had occurred in our division, and just when we thought we were closing in, the toad would rob another store. With luck, we'll be able to link this suspect to the other robberies in the area.

Chalk up a win for the good guys.
