Puttin' On The Foil

Wyatt, Vinnie Antonelli, & Deathlok's brother pre-game.

It is entirely possible that this week's Fat Stat will be at an all-time low. Why? Because I'll probably spend most of my Monday vomiting from stress. Tonight is the first round of our hockey playoffs, and it is a single-elimination game.

Simply put, the X-Men win or go home.

The team busted its collective humps to get into the playoffs - eking out Chilly McPhilly's for the final playoff spot - only to face the division-leading Battalion tonight at 9:45pm. I figure I'll be a vomiting, quivering, nervous wreck by 9:46pm, and I fear I'll be more concerned about not frakking up than I will be about scoring. Say a quick prayer for us: we'll need our "A" game tonight.

  2. GOOD LORD! Have you ever seen these guys play. Don't say "Carve em up". It's been known to actually happen.

As a X-Men Alumni (before they went to a Ice hockey league. . . .what 20 years ago), may you have more points than you did then.

I'm still waiting for my invite to the X-Men Alumni night.

Come on! An Assist and smahing my brother brand new stick in one game. I was like Gordie Howe. . . . .with accute asthma. . . .and smoking while on oxygen.

  3. Peak - Deathlok is right: don't ever say that to my friends. They'll take you at your word.

Deathlok - I have a measly three points this season - but it's still better than my Golden Eagle debut. (And, we've been waiting for you to recover to have you back for alumni night!)

  4. Wyatt: I resemble that remark! I'll have it known that I haven't sat in the sin-bin for four consecutive games now, (yeah, one of those was our forfeit win, but a streak is a streak!). Someone wise, and who knew a lot more about hockey than me, once said: defense wins championships. Tight play in our own end is all that's needed from our line. We can and will kick some battalion ass! If they bring the same goalie we played last week, we WILL win - he was worse than Deathlok at MWE.

Which brings me to DL: Waiting for the alumni game? What do you think the annual MWE hockey event is? Each year you strap on the elbow pad and do heroic work. Take a memo: this year bring steel tipped shoes. Sparks will be flying again

  5. A few nitro charged slaphsots at dusk do not a game make.

I'm working with the Mylec this summer. Steel toes will be there. Elbow pad in place. Neal Little Jersey on.

Hell, I'm thinking about coming to the next rent out. I just realized that I have save 43 sick days.

  7. Vinnie - My point exactly. As long as our line doesn't frak up, we may be gold. And you just jinxed yourself - you'll get a penalty tonight, for sure.

Deathlok - Sttel toes are a must for Vinnie's slapshot. Remember I lost a toenail from that putz!

Vinnie - Agreed. Neil Stinkin' Little. For shame.
